Branding a Leader

For the next few weeks I'd like to talk about 100 Leadership Methods as a way to see if ever any of our leaders subscribes to any of these methods. This is important because your style or method of leadership creates a certain impression and in the process, one is actually branding him/herself. The following are the first two suggestions I have about leadership:

1. A good leader makes sure he is surrounded by the right people.
This simply means that, “Success is not achieved totally by leadership alone,” and that a good leader makes sure he is surrounded by the right people, that there are open lines of communication in all matters, and that there is a strong commitment by all. Only through one’s willingness and dedication to give one’s self, and strive solely to be the best, not the biggest, can one become a better leader.

2. Treat your subordinates/employees well
Simply put, this suggest that a leaders must have a simple management philosophy,“If you treat your subordinates/employees well, they will take care of your customers and your business. One's subordinates/employees must know that we listen to and value their ideas, no matter how foreign they may seem to us at first. As a result, our subordinates/employees extend the same courtesy to our customers. Questions such as, What motivates them? Which of their needs are being met? Which are not? How can we help them? What impact will helping them have on our business? should be asked.

This is true but people dynamics need to be considered.
